Creative. Social. MPS adds creative firepower, investing in a new social agency and Creative Services Director

17 Jul 2020

London, UK: Motion Picture Solutions (MPS), one of the most trusted names in global film servicing, is proud to announce two major strategic developments that increase exponentially the creative servicing capabilities it offers clients.

Investing in the recently launched social agency Make it Social and the appointment of visual effects heavyweight Stuart Pitcher as MPS’s Creative Services Director dramatically expand the MPS Group’s offering throughout the timeline of content releasing — including content creation, production, creative design, distribution, visual effects, mastering and localisation — to provide a peerless service capability in today’s marketplace.

Following last year’s acquisition of Chinagraph, the boutique-turned-major creative content agency, MPS and Chinagraph have announced their investment and exclusive creative partnership with, the social-first agency, Make it Social.

Launched earlier this year by Megan McGregor and Mikie Daniel, two highly experienced ex-Studio Creatives, this partnership with Make it Social has already delivered results on a number of live projects, including, notably, the creation and localisation of social AV content for the “Trolls: World Tour” EST campaign, following the title’s quasi-theatrical release on digital platforms in April.

Mikie Daniel of Make it Social explains “For us, it was important that we set up an agency that bridged that gap of strategic thinking and high-level execution. Having been on the receiving end of a huge breadth of social campaigns as clients, we have a very strong vision for what we need to be doing in this space to stand apart from the crowd.” Megan McGregor of Make it Social adds “The wild-west days of social are over. For us it’s about placing it at the core of all that we do, and giving it the strategy, targeting and attention it deserves.”

“The current agency space is filled with social agencies on the one side and AV creative agencies on the other,” explains Steve O’Pray, MD of Chinagraph, “but our vision was to fuse the two together in a way that delivers bespoke social campaigns with high-end AV executions and scale. Investing in Make it Social is a great step for us. With the addition of MPS’s localisation expertise we have introduced a pipeline that marries together front-end, social, and localisation all through one connected partnership.”

Hot on the heels of this new creative partnership, MPS has also announced that it has brought in-house the talent of a pre-eminent effects specialist, Stuart Pitcher, with a host of main-title design credits to his name including “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, “Vera”, “Gravity”, and “The Martian”. As a VFX supervisor and designer, Stuart has already delivered proven results for MPS in recent weeks on a range of projects including on the worldwide marketing campaign for “No Time To Die” and, notably, on the BBC’s current series of Alan Bennett’s “Talking Heads”, filmed entirely during lockdown, with main title sequences created remotely by Stuart and the team at MPS.

“To have someone of Stuart’s calibre on the creative team at MPS marks a step-change for us,” explains Matt Aspray, CEO of MPS, adding “As Creative Services Director, Stuart is perfectly positioned to merge the short-form Creative and Production capabilities of Chinagraph, into MPS’s own market-leading long-form Mastering, Localisation, and Delivery infrastructure. It’s an exciting development and a vital component in our “post-to-play” vision for the connected service lines we deliver for our clients.”
